SPORTCOAT Questions

  • I want my gun Sportcoated, what next?
Please contact us FIRST via Email or phone, and we will have you ship to the following address:
       Center Shot Sports
       3989 Harris Road
       Ellerslie, GA 31807

  • How can we see the different graphics?
Many of our finishes can be seen on our Sportcoat Finishes page.  We will e-mail pictures of existing or new graphics periodically.  Requests may be sent to Email

  • What is the turn around time?
Four to five weeks if the stock is clean.
    more details

  • What is meant by clean?
Clean means there are no dings or dents that would show up under the coating.
This includes the grain of the wood. Exposed grain will diminish the look of the high grade wood coatings.

  • What should I do to prepare my stock for your process?
Do I send my whole gun to you?

    NO!
Just send the forearm, rear stock, and the hardware for those pieces (i.e., do not send in the receiver or barrel(s).

Should I sand my stock down?
NO! Please do not take the original finish off.

    Automatics only
Send in just the forearm and rear stock. If you have an adjustable cheek piece please loosen and remove hardware. Then reinstall the hardware with only hand tightness on all screws, as we will remove and hand fit before and after coating. (Not needed on Beretta FACTORY cheek piece hardware).

    Over & Unders only
Send in just the forearm and rear stock. Please loosen and remove the forearm hardware. Then reinstall the hardware with only hand tightness on all screws, as we will remove and hand fit before and after coating. If you have an adjustable cheek piece please do the same. (Not needed on Beretta FACTORY cheek piece hardware).

  • Is an oil finish stock OK?
We can not accept true oil finish stocks due to the excessive turn around time for the customer. EXCEPTION is the Browning factory oil finish.

  • Will this cover up my checkering?
No. We add only three-thousandths of an inch to the finish.

  • What is the cost?
    Automatic Shotguns:
$150 for Rear stock and fore end plus $15 for shipping.
Over & Under Shotguns: $175 for Rear stock and fore end plus $15 for shipping.

  • How much to clean up dings, dents or hide grain?

    New Guns
    - $25 flat fee

    Used Guns
    - $100 flat fee

For Raw Wood Stocks or Stocks That Need to be Stripped prior to the SPORTCOAT process an inspection and quote will be given prior to work beginning

  • Dings and dents

This stock had only two visible dents until shot with primer and hand feathered with existing finish. The gray is filling in low spots and grain shifts in the wood not readily visible to the naked eye.

Minor dings and dents - Add one to two weeks to process.

Major Dings & Dents or Hide Factory Finish Grain – Add two to four weeks to process

For Raw Wood Stocks or Stocks That Need to be Stripped prior to the SPORTCOAT process, an inspection and quote will be given prior to work beginning.

  • When does the turn around time start?
When we actually receive the stock!

  • Will the weather affect the finish?
No, it's just like car paint.

  • Can it be taken off!
Like any other finish, you sand or strip it off and cover it again.

  • Can it be put on all synthetics?
We have not found any that we could not cover.

  • Will work begin before payment is received?
We can’t begin work until payment is made.

  • Can you fix a chip in the pattern?
Sometimes with art paint pens if it is small.

  • Will the coating chip off around Beretta gas ports?
We experienced pealing on sporting clays guns because of the heat generated by the competitive shooter firing so many rounds so quickly.
We now take the gas port off on 303, 390 & 91’s and replace with a factory Beretta rivet at no charge.
